Seven (7) newly Licensed Mechanical Engineers were added to the bulk of professionals which the Mindanao Polytechnic College produce yearly after passing the Mechanical Engineering Licensure Examination, conducted on September 28-29, 2016 in Metro Manila, Baguio, Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Lucena City simultaneously.
The Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) and Culinary Arts Maritime-Based (CAMB) of Mindanao Polytechnic College (MPC) conducted their annual event labelled as La Kusina at the school’s gymnasium in February 19, 2016.
The program started with a welcome address by the department head, Ms. Myrla L. Cansado, MBA and Mr. Santos Canonizado inspired the young chefs to do their best to be the champion in this competition. His message fired up the competitors.
Different challenges were given to the competitors. Entremetier, Plated Dessert, Smoothies Challenge and Dress a Cake were held at MPC gymnasium while Chefs’ War (Market Basket), Quick Fire Salad and Kitchen Combo were performed at KCC Mall of Gensan. Meanwhile, Socialization Night was staged on March 20 at venue 88, General Santos City, to award the winners of the competition.
To personally share their exceptional skills in writing, Porthole, the official student publication of Mindanao Polytechnic College (MPC), conducted their 5th Community Outreach Program on February 13, 2016 at Malandag Institute Incorporated, Malandag Malungon, Sarangani Province.
Spearheaded by the Porthole staff together with their moderator, the outreach program was centered on Campus Journalism Seminar-Workshop where a total of 29 young journalists of Malandag Institute Inc. joined the seminar. The program started with the introduction of editorial board. Each participant was given a chance to choose on what particular field in journalism they are interested in. The seminar-workshop was divided into 5 groups: Editorial, News, Feature Writing, Cartooning and Photojournalism. Each group was assigned a topic to be discussed during the seminar session.
Editor-in-Chief Christine P. Umandap facilitated the editorial writing; Jose Bon Victor P. Ardina-circulation editor and senior writer was assigned to discuss News Writing and George Ace S. Fajardo – Managing editor and senior writer talked about Feature Writing. Meanwhile, Dhan Joseph A. Guiñes – Photojournalist/Layout Artist and Jake F. Demasuay – Head Cartoonist/Layout Artist, were assigned to facilitate the Cartooning and Photojournalism respectively.
Presentation of the participants’ output as well as critiquing was then conducted by the assigned facilitators in the afternoon. It was then followed by the awarding of the certificates of participation to the workshoppers.
Above all, the program aimed to help the selected students of Malandag Institute Inc. to enhance their talents and skills in the field of journalism.
College Days, the most anticipated event every second semester. Mindanao Polytechnic College commemorates the annual celebration of college days in February 10-12, 2016 with a theme “Advancing the passion and spirit of an ideal MPCian through Literacy and Socio-Cultural events”.
The said event started in February 10 with a spontaneous production number from different students, showing their skills and talents. Followed by a short welcome remark from D/C Hanz Lezter C. Labordo, this year’s Supreme Student Government President. In the afternoon, the actual competition for the different events started with a bang in this year’s college days celebration.
